Extended Observation Unit:

Extended Observation Unit Services (EOU) involve providing short-term, intensive mental health services to individuals in a crisis. These units offer 24-hour care for individuals who require stabilization but may not need inpatient hospitalization. The services include assessment, observation, and treatment interventions designed to quickly stabilize acute psychiatric symptoms. Typically, patients stay in an EOU for up to 48 hours, during which time staff work to determine the most appropriate level of ongoing care and connect the individual to necessary resources and support systems.

State Hospital Step Down Services:

The State Hospital Step-Down Program (SHSDP) is designed to identify, assess, and facilitate the successful transition of adults with serious mental illness (SMI) who exceed the supports available in traditional settings and who are clinically appropriate for transition from a hospital-based setting to community-based services with proper supports.

Jail Diversion Services:

Jail Diversion Services are designed to redirect individuals with mental health or substance use disorders away from the criminal justice system and into appropriate treatment and support services. These services aim to address the underlying behavioral health issues that contribute to criminal behavior, thereby reducing recidivism and promoting recovery. Jail diversion programs typically involve collaboration between law enforcement, mental health professionals, and the courts. They may include crisis intervention, case management, and access to mental health or substance use treatment. The goal is to provide alternatives to incarceration, such as treatment programs, supportive housing, or community supervision, that better address the needs of individuals with behavioral health conditions. By focusing on treatment rather than punishment, Jail Diversion Services help reduce the burden on the criminal justice system, improve outcomes for individuals, and enhance public safety.

Competency Restoration Services:

Competency Restoration services, as outlined in Texas Senate Bill 42 (SB 42), are designed to restore the mental competency of individuals who have been deemed incompetent to stand trial due to mental illness or intellectual disability. These services typically involve a combination of psychiatric care, medication management, and educational programs focused on understanding legal proceedings. The goal is to help the individual attain the mental capacity necessary to participate meaningfully in their defense. Competency Restoration can take place in various settings, including inpatient psychiatric facilities, outpatient programs, or jail-based settings, depending on the individual's needs and the severity of their condition.

Intensive Outpatient Program – IOP:

The Wood Group contracts with Community Behavioral Health Center to provide Intensive Outpatient Services to consumers of the Centers. The services are provided under arrangement with the local Community Behavioral Health Center. The consumers are provided with both individual and group units. The amount of services each individual receives in the program is determined by assessments made by the Community Behavioral Health Center. The services are provided both on-site and in the community.

Recovery Withdrawal Management (Detox)

Recovery Withdrawal Management services focus on assisting individuals through the acute phase of substance withdrawal, providing medical and psychological support to manage withdrawal symptoms safely. These services are crucial for those recovering from substance use disorders, as withdrawal can be physically and emotionally challenging. The process typically includes medical supervision, administration of medications to alleviate withdrawal symptoms, and monitoring for complications. In addition to the physical management of withdrawal, these services often incorporate counseling and support to address the psychological aspects of recovery. Recovery Withdrawal Management aims to stabilize the individual, prepare them for the next phase of treatment, and connect them to ongoing recovery resources, such as inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation programs. This approach helps reduce the risk of relapse and supports the individual's long-term recovery journey.
